Fast traceability of the supply chain is today a priority within the fish market – a form of respect towards consumers. Hence, the European Commission, the Parliament and the European Council have established precise regulations. Food products may be sold only if they feature on the label or on signs displayed on sales counters the trade name of the species, the production method and the area of capture (for caught products) and the country of origin (for farmed products.)
